Dr. Julie Rhodes is a licensed naturopathic physician starting her first year of a hybrid-model, gastroenterology-focused residency at Kwan Yin Healing Arts Center and Hive Mind Medicine. She earned her Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine and Master of Science in Integrative Mental Health from the National University of Natural Medicine, completing her studies in June 2021. Before enrolling in medical school, she completed a Master of Science in Health and Physical Activity while employed for eight years as a research professional studying developmental and regenerative cell biology at the University of Pittsburgh and UPMC Children’s Hospital.
Her approach to care prioritizes the co-creation of a partnership with her patients, honoring their unique preferences and wisdom, while offering structure and guidance along the path towards improved wellbeing. She understands the value in building collaborative relationships with other medical providers, having the shared goal of optimizing the patient experience. She is equipped to provide patients a comprehensive approach to wellness through her training in the art and science of natural therapies. These include counseling, LENS neurofeedback, nutrition, exercise science, botanical medicine, and homeopathy. The fundamental principles of Naturopathic Medicine guide her work:
Her clinical interests include chronic GI disorders, mental health, and autoimmune diseases. Her ideal patient is someone seeking meaningful and lasting change, who has a spark of willingness to investigate the various aspects of life that influence health.
Outside of clinic, Dr. Rhodes can be found searching for snails and birdwatching in the wildlife areas surrounding Portland, tending her houseplants while listening to podcasts, or cozying up on the couch with a book and her three cats.
